Club Amigos

Club Amigos is an after school club at Brighton’s Bilingual Primary School.

The Client

Alongside English, Spanish is spoken and taught using a variety of engaging and fun methods, activities, and themed topics to boost confidence in both written and spoken language.

Despite being separately run from the school itself, many assume it is part of the Bilingual Primary School curriculum, leading to confusion among parents looking to learn more about the club or book their children in. In addition, the school is moving from Falmer to Hove over the course of February 2016. As such, the co-director of Club Amigos decided it would be a perfect time to start establishing the after school club as its own brand.

The Brief

Club Amigos required a bespoke internal system in place which would lay the foundations for essential website functions later down the line. The idea was that this would later be developed into a booking and payment system, as well as a member’s login area for parents to monitor their child’s progression via live timetables and webcam.

Supporting the local community is an important cause for Neptik. Learning about the opportunity to provide our services for an organisation linked to a well-respected local school, which had built an impressive reputation in Brighton and beyond, was extremely excited and we couldn’t wait for class to commence.

Website Design and Development

As per every web design and web development project, we worked closely with Club Amigos to gain a better understanding of what they wanted the website to eventually achieve. This would help us craft a product which was suited to their current needs and scalable to their future growth. We felt the best means to achieve this would be via WordPress web development; a well-established platform which would be easy for non-technically minded individuals to manage and update.

We got to work creating a beautiful bespoke website, incorporating the various prospective features which could make the Club Amigos site a fully functioning parental portal in the future. In preparation for the booking and member’s login capabilities, as well as a function to regularly update a weekly timetable of activities, we developed a detailed framework for these features which could be implemented later. We also developed a gallery page, as well as an about page which would introduce each of the supervisors at the club.

We carefully planned the sitemap through extensive wireframing, planning the optimal user journey that could be well suited to both new and regular visitors. We wanted the design of the site itself to accurately represent the fun nature of Club Amigos, which we achieved through bright colours, patterns, and bold, eye-catching typography courtesy of our design experts. The site, of course, was also available in either English or Spanish.

To top it all off, the site was built to include various crucial functionality and content such as easy-to-use contact forms, Google Maps integration, admissions and fees polices, relevant documentation and permission slips available to download.
