UK Speaker of the year 2016.

The Client

After being named ‘UK Speaker of the Year’ by the UK Professional Speaking Association, and in the run up to the launch of his debut publication ‘Let’s Get Engaged’, Steve came to Neptik to develop his brand and digitally authority.

Steve is a prominent figure in the Brighton business scene and has become a prolific figure at nationwide networking events. Having worked with multinationals such as O2, T-Mobile and ambitious local businesses, he uses his experience to provide keynote speeches, coaching courses, and talks in which he educates, informs and engages with audiences on social media and business management.

 

The Brief

Steve required a complete overhaul of his online presence, including a brand new website design and new logo and branding. We were instructed of the importance of maintaining approachable elements within the branding, whilst also conveying a sense of professionalism and authority. Alongside this, a new logo would be required to meet Steve’s branding criteria. He wanted something which represented engagement without all the clichés, as well as elements of his recognisable speaking personality.

The website itself would have to convey important information in a simplistic and easy to digest way, whilst not overwhelming audiences with too much content. Steve felt an image rich website, showing him in his element, would appeal to his target audience of business leaders who prefer action over words. The inviting and engaging nature of the website would ultimately be focused on enticing businesses to contact him with opportunities.

Overall, the user experience design would be based around exploring different aspects of Steve’s work, putting his portfolio front and centre. Unaware of how to achieve this suitable user experience, we knew our expertise would be put to good use.

Website Design and Development

Our tailored web design would succinctly highlight Steve’s credentials, meaning users could easily navigate across key areas of the site and learn new information each time. We wanted each section to provide a USP of Steve’s services, as well as industry specialisations, testimonials and case studies in plain view. Strategically placed calls-to-action and prompts would also create further user engagement and assist in data capture. Social media integration was also a key feature, ensuring visitors could find Steve’s various social channels and engage easily.

From a design perspective, using professional quality images helped qualify the high-end value of Steve’s work. Naturally, we made these images the focal point of the website, ensuring the content did not obstruct but was also in clear view. We also knew the ability to integrate high-quality video content, such as Steve talking at events, would be valuable to Steve and good for his target audience.

Logo and Branding

The logo and branding of the new site was important to help Steve stand out against tough competition. These designs would craft a consistent brand for Steve which could properly represent him across a wide range of channels.

The scope of the branding was one of the most exciting we’d worked on; our logo design would be the catalyst for a larger branding identity, extending into business card design, bespoke Word document templates, print design, custom MailChimp templates for newsletters and a custom email signature design.

This work also had to translate into effective social media branding where Steve has built a large following. We wanted to help make Steve’s multiple channel management as simple and effective as possible, so we created corporate branding guidelines to ensure his brand identity would be consistent across his various physical and digital platforms.
