Third party website integrations made their restaurant more efficient.
Brighton’s boho bistro Kooks already had a unique look and stylistic approach to showcasing its food and we wanted to maintain this attractive design aesthetic across the brand new website we were developing.
We also developed Kooks’ existing restaurant management software to include third-party eCommerce system integrations such as ResDiary for table bookings.
Located in the heart of Brighton’s North Laine district, Kooks is bistro dedicated to celebrating Brighton’s eccentricity, championing its counter culture with its quirky design, well-sourced and unique ingredients, a bar extensive enough to rival its pub neighbours, and a great soundtrack sourced by owner Tim Healy, a successful professional DJ/Producer and food-entrepreneur.
The main focus of the brief was to create a simple and functional bespoke website design that would easily allow users to browse the menus, whilst maintaining the unique design aesthetic found in their restaurant. The aim was to create a website that would immediately remind people of Kooks through typography, colour, photography, and use of their logo.
Kooks also utilised a number of third-party site integrations, so we wanted to create an interwoven system which linked together these systems in a more functional way.
We started by creating a bespoke design template for Kooks’ WordPress based website, allowing for a greater degree of control over the frequently changing content on the site. We wanted to maintain a minimalistic feel in certain areas of the website to showcase the photography of their food.
During the development phase we wanted to keep the user experience design at the forefront of our design choices, making the website easy to navigate whilst presenting the user with all the required information.
We also included multiple API integrations, styling them in a way that fitted in which the rest of website, as opposed to just placing the widget onto the page.
We developed a custom design for Kooks’ WordPress site, giving restaurant managers easy options to manage content. We designed the CMS to be easily accessible for those who may not come from a technical background, whilst providing the same wealth of options and features we do for all website development projects.
Third-party applications we integrated with the website included ResDiary, an online table booking platform, and a mobile push-notification service which keeps customers updated on the status of their table if one isn’t available when they turn up without booking.
